When Bert de Vooght, the Flemish born manager of hotel-restaurant Casa del Maco, stood 25 years ago for the first time on the terrace of the only partially restored finca, he immediately fell for its authentic Spanish charm.

It was love at first sight and he bought the finca as temporary residence during his business activities in Spain . The exquisite farm was used as summer residence during various summers as well, but was sold again at the end of the activities. The dream however would remain...

In the fall of 2000, Bert de Vooght by chance got word that the finca, in the mean time converted into a stylish restaurant, was for sale again. Still devoted to its southern charm, he did not hesitate for a single moment, and a dream came through. Together with an enthusiastic crew, the Casa del Maco was further developed into a classy hotel-restaurant, without affecting its traditional character.

The development of the hotel was continued, and four of the eventual six rooms are now finished. The exquisite finca underwent a complete restyling with adapted furniture and antique accessories. Investments were made in a new wine cellar, the roof and the terrace were given a complete clean-up and the façade was given back its original natural stone view. Neither cost nor efforts were spared to make the Casa Del Maco sparkle as it never did before...
